Number
of players: 2 and up
Type of Dominoes Used: Special
Type of Game: Special Domino Set
The game is played with a special set of dominoes that includes a
double-9 set (55 pieces), plus 11 wild 'pip' tiles, 4
directional tiles (S, R, A, D) with wild "pip" ends, for a
total of 70 tiles, and 1 game-starter center piece.
Directional tiles may be used at any time to create strategic plays.
They are:
"S" (skip tile): Play skips the next player.
"R" (reverse tile): Reverses the direction of play.
"A" (play-again tile): Allows that player an additional turn.
'D' (draw tile): Forces the next player to draw an additional tile from
those remaining in the stock pile. if no stock pile is available, the
player using the draw tile passes a tile from his hand to the next
player.
Each directional tile also has a wild pip design at its opposite end
which is wild and may be played as any number.
Wild-pip tiles: There are 11 wildpip tiles, which may be played as any
number. The wild double-pip tile must be played as a double number only.
Object of the game: To be the player with
the lowest score after nine rounds of play.
Choose one player to be the scorekeeper. Keeping the tiles
facedown on the table, each player draws 9 tiles from the deck. The
remaining tiles comprise the stock pile. With 2 players only, each draws
15 tiles.
The player with the 1-1 tile (or the double "pip" tile in the
event
the 1-1 is not drawn) begins the round by placing it faceup in the
center slot of the wooden center piece. if the double-pip tile is used
to begin any round, it will represent the number tile for that round.
(For example: Round 4 begins with the 4-4 tile or the double-pip tile.
if the double-pip tile is used to begin that round, it represents the
4-4 tile.) Each round begins with the double tile next in value (e.g.,
double-2, 3, 4, 5, progressing through 9). There are nine rounds in a
game.
If neither the 1-1 nor the double-pip tile is drawn, the designated
scorekeeper draws one tile from the stock pile. Each player continues to
draw from the stock pile in a clockwise manner until the 1-1 or the
double-pip tile is drawn.
Play proceeds in a clockwise manner.
The second player may play on either side of the starting tile, using a
1 or a wild-pip tile, placing it horizontally against the first tile
played.
The third and all subsequent players may place their tile on either the
unplayed side of the original domino or on the previously played domino.
Players are free to play on either side of any domino (or on the top and
bottom of the 1-1 or pip tile) only when both sides of the starting tile
have had play.
A player using a double tile places it vertically on the playing
surface.
When a double tile is played (except for the initial start-of-the game
play), the next three plays must be played on the double using either a
corresponding number tile or a wild-pip tile. Play may then proceed from
any "branch" on the playing surface.
If a player is unable to place a tile from his hand, he draws one tile
from the stock pile. If he is still unable to place a domino, play
passes to the next person.
The round is over when a player has played all the tiles in his hand or
when a round is blocked. A round is blocked when no player can place a
tile from his hand, and the stock pile has been depleted.
When the round is over because a player has played all the tiles in his
hand, that player is considered the winner for that round. in the case
of the round ending in a block, all tiles remaining in each player's
hand are counted and added to their scores. There is no winner for that
round, and no player may deduct any points from his score.
Scoring: At the end of every round, each player totals the count of each
tile remaining in his hand. Count is determined by the total number of
pips of each tile, in addition to the points from any wild tiles as
follows:
Single wild-pip tiles count 20 points each, plus the number of dots on
the tile.
Double wild-pip tiles count 50 points each.
Each directional tile counts as 25 points, not including the
"pips" on the tile which are an additional 20 points. The
points are totaled, and the scorekeeper records each player's total. The
scorekeeper then deducts 10 points from the round winner's score.
Note: No player's score may fall below zero.
